Well the last year has been quite a roller coaster in my life. I finally decided to be true to myself and let the world know that I am gay. I blogged about it last year and the response of support was overwhelming. The response from family, friends, clients both past and future was better than I ever expected or dreamed it would be. I thought once I had it out there and everyone finally knew, it was going to be smooth sailing from there. I was wrong.
Even though I really suffered almost no negative backlash, I was truly unprepared for how my life would change. It was like one day I was this person and the next day I was a completely different person and the life I had known before was to no longer be.
I found myself searching for who I was again and how I was going to fit into this new world and it suddenly became a very frightening and lonely situation to be in. I found myself withdrawing from people who I loved and who loved me. I was sinking into a depression and I couldn’t find a way out.
I slowing began losing my passion for the creative side of my work. It was at this time in my life that I made the decision to forgo workshops. These had always been one of my favorite parts of my work because of how really creative and out there I could get with them. I was constantly dreaming up my next grand scheme for the each of the upcoming workshops. I also loved being around all those other creative minds and watching them as I told them how it all fell in to place for me, and seeing that “ah ha” moment when something I said clicked for them.
I just lost the passion though, I just wanted to shoot beautiful weddings where someone else had all the creative control and I could just go home after and just not have to think at all.
So I made the big announcement that I was done with workshops and I honestly thought I was. I finished up the last ones I had and waited on the ones people signed up for when I announced the end and then it would be over and I was gonna be ok with that.
I was constantly inundated with emails asking me to please add seats to the last ones that were coming up which I could not do. The emails just never ceased. So a couple months ago, I did add a couple workshops for a year from now thinking that would still give me time to just take a break from really having to do much creatively for a while.
About a year or so has passed since my “Out” blog and I have slowing beginning to live in and embrace this new life, I am still trying to figure it out (I am sure we all are in some sort of “figuring it out” state at one time or another) but I am much happier and ready for the adventures that life has to offer.
When I began working on my last workshop (Bonnie and Clyde) I found myself becoming very excited about it. Every day I woke up and thought “OH YEAH! I have to add this or that and change this or that. It was like old times. I was feeling those creative juices flowing like they had never before. I knew this was gonna be good. Then the first set of attendees showed up and it was awesome. When they left I had a whole new set of friends and the same thing happened with the 2 that followed. Then I began to edit and share the photos from the workshop as did many of the attendees. The response has been absolutely crazy to say the very least! My email has been blowing up with people asking to please announce more workshops. It has been so crazy in fact that yesterday my website crashed and my assistant who answers my emails threatened to quit. Lol
I sat there last night thinking can I really walk away from all of that? Well the answer was a resounding NO!
With all that said I am here to say I am back and I am ready for bigger and better than ever before! So here gos! WORKSHOP ANNOUNCEMENT!

Here are some reviews from past workshop attendees:
@benrileyphotography “#iPhonePic from the past two days I’ve spent at the #threenailsworkshop! No doubt that this workshop was the best investment I could’ve made. I went to better my business but came home with so much more. Hunter reassured me that photography is where I need to be and I learned so much about myself throughout this workshop. Had the time of my life!! Models: @samstanford17 & @marisaasomerrr #BonnieAndClyde @threenailsphoto”
@shawnabeckphoto “Have you ever heard successful individuals state that you need to associate with people that inspire you, challenge you to rise higher, and that make you better. If there was anything to follow it would be this. Spend time with people that are doing with their career and lives what you want to accomplish in order to light the fire within you and guide you to where you want to be. The #threenailsworkshop did just that for me. Hunter provides a wealth of information and inspiration in just a few short days. It gives all of the attendees a chance to see success from another perspective, to see what can be accomplished, and the importance of networking and researching your field. If you ever want to have an experience You won’t soon forget, that helps your business exponentially this is the one.”
@kaitlin_scott “One of the things that separates Hunter from other talented photographers is the way he creates each pose to tell a story, and how that influences the wardrobe, lighting, and location. Many photographers work the other way around, putting together all the other aspects of a shoot and then deciding on the day which poses to do. Hunter begins with the stories, and it’s fascinating to watch him on set bringing each one to life.”
@jasminedee.photography “Today was the last day of the #threenailsworkshop and I left with a completely new outlook on photography. Learning from @threenailsphoto is not only a once in a lifetime opportunity, it’s LIFE CHANGING. I’ve never met someone so real and so inspiring. This workshop opens your eyes to so many opportunities that will take your photography business to a whole new and extraordinary level. THANK YOU, HUNTER. You and your team are incredible. It was an honor to meet you and @austinandre, to discover the beauty of Shreveport, and to hear your hilariously amazing and insightful stories. You are my hero and I know taking this workshop will be a pivotal moment in my career. For that, I am eternally thankful. I left to soon to be in the group selfie or take a photo with you all, but just know how thankful I am to have attended and meet you all!!!”
@lindsaykubicaphotography “This guy literally does everything!!! He’s so talented and creative and truly blessed by God with the amazing gift of capturing life with exquisite detail and beauty!!! I learned so much from him creatively and on the business side. Thank you Hunter for sharing your expertise and heart with us. I’m over the moon with the knowledge I am taking back home with me. If you ever get the opportunity, it’s definitely a must for your bucket list. #threenailsworkshop #bonnieandclyde”
@callie_lindsey “Forever grateful for the experience of the #threenailsworkshop. It’s been raw and real and intensely inspiring. It’s the kind of workshop that will push you out of your comfort zone and you’ll love every single minute of it.”
@alicialuciaphotos “Inspired is a SERIOUS understatement…. Life as a wedding photographer is completely changed thanks to this visionary right here. If you are wanting a 100% authentic + insanely creative workshop experience then @threenailsphoto is the way to go. Hunter is truly a visionary and hands down the best of our generation. His hustle and direction towards greatness while still protecting the integrity in his art will move you.. I’m forever changed, thank you Hunter Leone (& his amazing team aka @austinandre & co.) ☺️ #neverwantedittoend”
@charlawrie “Last week at this time I was spending the weekend learning from this remarkable guy. I can’t even begin to find the words to describe everything I took away from this workshop. All I can say is that I have a head full of new knowledge and I opened up a whole new creative window in my artistic mind. Hunter is down to earth, incredibly talented, genuine, hilarious, smart, professional…I could go on, but those are just a few of my favorite things about him as a teacher and a human. I will definitely be back in 2016! #tnpw5910 #threenailsworkshop”
@karmapants “Sometimes, you just need to take a leap of faith and trust your gut. After following @threenailsphoto for two years on Instagram I finally decided I needed to attend one of his workshops. I didn’t have a clue what I was in for and hopped on a plane from Newark to New Orleans, then drove a car 4.5 hours to see what all the hype was about. I’m happy to say this trip did not disappoint. 3 photo shoots and one Gummy Bear later I am so inspired to go out and do what I do best, my style. Thank you for reminding me why I do what I do and inspiring me to do better. Thanks so much for being real. Thank you for opening up your brain and letting us pick it. I learned so much and am so happy I took the risk. @jennarteaga1 you are the best for coming with. Boudin and Cracklins baby”
